News | Introduction & Coaching in April

We’ve made a small change to our upcoming event plans! Instead of two days of competition, we’re excited to host a weekend focused on introduction, coaching, and practice next weekend, April 26th & 27th, 2025. After a busy few weeks filled with other events, we’ve decided to push back the JQ Donald Memorial, supported by Provincial Insurance and Kilwell Sports, to ensure we can give it the attention it deserves later in the calendar.

In the meantime, we’re kicking off our first coaching and introduction sessions of the season, and we think this will be a great opportunity to brush up on your skills, learn new techniques, and enjoy some practice.

Saturday, April 26th – Introduction & Coaching on Sporting Clays

On Saturday, we’ll be diving into the fundamentals of sporting clays. We’ll have three fields open, each featuring a variety of basic targets. James Mackie, will lead a session covering:

  • Gun fit and stance

  • Getting the gun impacting where you're looking

  • Techniques for breaking basic targets

  • Key techniques to improve consistency

This session is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refine their skills. Registration is required please. Grounds open from 9am - 3pm. An introduction from scratch for new attendees will begin at 9am, moving into the coaching session beginning at 10am until approximately 1pm.

Don’t Have Your Own Equipment? No Problem!

If you don’t have a firearm or other gear, just let us know when you register. We’ll arrange equipment for you. Don’t have a firearms license? No worries! We’ll provide safety guidance and support throughout the coaching sessions to ensure everyone is comfortable.

While coaching is our priority, we’ll also have general sporting practice available on the remaining fields for members who want to get some extra practice in—just be sure to work around the scheduled coaching sessions.

Cost

There will be no charge for the coaching time, this is complimentary from the Club members. Targets and ammunition will be paid at the end of coaching session. Standard rates $14 per 25 targets and $15.50 per 25 cartridges (discount rates for full club members). Expect to shoot 50-75 targets/cartridges.

Sunday, April 27th – Practice & Coaching on Skeet, DTL, and Sporting Clays

Sunday is all about general practice! Grounds open from 10am - 3pm. We’ll have one field each open for:

  • Skeet

  • DTL

  • Sporting Clays

If there’s enough interest, we’ll also be offering an Introduction to DTL Trap session starting at 10am, again led by James Mackie, focusing on:

  • Gun fit and stance for DTL

  • Getting the gun impacting where you're looking

  • Key shooting techniques for DTL trap

To help us plan, please register your interest online so we can ensure we have the right resources available for everyone.

How to Register

Whether you're looking to join a coaching session or simply practice, registration is essential. To sign up for either day (or both!), please fill out the registration form at:
